YOUNG ORCHIDS AT THE DRUNKEN UNICORN

Young Orchids are a fervent and undisguised force in Atlanta, quickly gaining momentum.  Right after the demise of their previous band Ski Club, lead singer Kyle Gordon and guitarist Michael Kai formulated Young Orchids. They attacked the song writing process together to create a catalog of unique songs and original performances that easily cross genre lines. What could easily be the next fringe movement taking Atlanta by surprise, Young Orchids, in just a short amount of time, have managed to pull together an amazing lineup for an amazing delivery of powerful and subtly aggressive pop concepts.

Extracting from a variety of musical foundations, Young Orchids seem bound for music glory. Each song embodies the abstract notion of musical greatness; leading any lucky listener on a voyage of musical impressions, never imitating, intimidating even the most discriminating of musical snobs. Here is an interview with the band from the show (forgive the background noise but we had to do it outside, next to the road, and it started raining)...

Given the short amount of time Young Orchids have managed to create their refreshing and genuine sound, its easy to see how these five young and talented musicians have gained popularity so rapidly. Their shows are filled with scores of happy concert goers; eagerly awaiting each and every song, dancing and cheering and singing along. The atmosphere of their shows is one of involvement and contentment; and each melody pleases the crowd more than the next.

Young Orchids are currently making an album with producer Kristofer Sampson (Dead Confederate, All The Saints) and plan to have it finished up and on the market by May. Right around that same time or shortly after, they plan on touring extensively.
